Connoisseurs of classic Reformer Pilates classes are sure to be surprised by the machines on offer at Remega! At this brand-new gym, located at 71 rue La Fayette in the 9th arrondissement, classes are held on custom-built Megareformer machines.
If you've ever taken a Lagree class, the Megareformer on which you're practicing should tell you something. But please note that this is a Pilates Reformer class, not a Lagree class. The 50-minute group class takes place entirely on the Megareformer, a fitness machine designed for an intensive workout combining muscle strengthening, endurance and sheathing. During the session, you work every part of your body to music, using slow, demanding movements ( Remega classes are more rhythmic than Lagree classes).
The founders' aim? To offer dynamic sports classes that you wouldn't be able to do at home, but which are well worth the effort. And that's exactly what Remega delivers, as you leave the first session with the impression that you've had a good workout. The classes can seem pretty tough at first, especially with a Megareformer, but the coach was there to help us out as needed throughout the session.
The brand-new gym boasts a room containing a dozen Megareformers, and a spacious, designer changing room in the basement. Remega 's real trump card? The gym has an infrared sauna, freely accessible from the women's changing room, for relaxing muscles after a session.
As far as prices are concerned, like all other Reformer studios, Remega offers packages or subscriptions: it's up to you to choose what's best for you. A single session costs 39 euros, which is a little less expensive than some Parisian studios, although the cost of a session remains high. Pilates Reformer and Lagree are considered to be high-end sports, because of their budget.
