Nestled in the heart of the French capital, the Parc des Princes stands as a living witness to the rich and exciting history of French soccer. This emblematic stadium, located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, is the largest sports venue in the city, and boasts a capacity of almost 47,000 to welcome fans of Paris-Saint-Germain, its resident club since 1974.
The Parc des Princes was built in 1897 as a velodrome. Previously, it had been used as a place for relaxation, hunting and strolling by the king and royal princes, hence its name. Renovated in 1932, it hosted the French soccer and rugby teams until the inauguration of the Stade de France. It wasn't until the 1970s that the stadium acquired its legendary status, thanks to major renovations in anticipation of the 1998 UEFA Cup. A place of celebration for soccer fans, the Parc des Princes has welcomed legendary players such as George Weah, Pauleta, Raí, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
On match days, Ultras and other fan groups create an electric atmosphere at the Parc des Princes. For soccer fans visiting the capital, attending a match at the Parc des Princes is a must! A modern stadium steeped in history, it features food courts, souvenir stores and children's play areas. Concerts can also be held in this legendary venue several times a year.
Throughout the year, the Parc des Princes can be visited thanks to the Stadium Tour, which takes visitors behind the scenes of the stadium, into the players' changing rooms and onto the pitch, with different themes depending on the time of year. Paris-Saint-Germain brings the stadium to life, and even has a vegetable garden open to pupils from nearby schools.
The Parc des Princes is open to the public on match days, on presentation of a ticket for a Paris-Saint-Germain home match, the price of which may vary, unless you are a season ticket holder. Outside match days, guided tours are available on Fridays, weekends and during school vacations, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., for 25 euros full price and 15 euros for children under 13.
To get to the Parc des Princes, take metro line 9 (Porte de Saint-Cloud) or line 10 (Porte d'Auteuil).
During the Paris Olympic Games, the Parc des Princes will host a dozen soccer matches, including the men's and women's finals. To get to the venue, we recommend taking the RER C or the free buses provided by the Games organizers from Charles-de-Gaulle - Etoiles.
