On March 23 and 24, 2024, we're off to reconnect with nature with the "Forêt en Scène" event at the Académie du Climat, located in the 4th arrondissement. This free event, orchestrated by the Office National des Forêts (ONF) in collaboration with the Académie du Climat and the City of Paris, promises a fascinating immersion in the world of forests, true treasures of biodiversity and essential pillars in the fight against global warming.

To mark International Forest Day, the Académie du Climat is opening its doors for a series of fun and educational events designed to raise awareness among young and old alike of the crucial role forests play in our environment. The first few days, reserved for school activities, precede a weekend open to all, offering a rich program of participatory workshops.

A varied program for all

The workshops, designed to be accessible and interactive, range from the discovery of forest-related professions such as forest archaeology, to more sensory experiences such as the naturalist walk in the Bois de Vincennes. Participants will also have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with climate issues through workshops such as "The forest through time", or to learn about forest gastronomy with the Edible School, which offers original recipes based on forest ingredients.

One of the highlights of the event will undoubtedly be the virtual hot-air balloon flight over the coastal forests, an immersive experience funded by the European Union, the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region, and the ONF. This activity promises to raise awareness of the importance of preserving these precious ecosystems.

From accrobranche to Paris

On Sunday March 24, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Place Baudoyer, a large wooden sporting course awaits children. An opportunity to test your agility and speed, in complete safety. A little taste of the forest and adventure in the city, just a few months before the Olympics! Ages 4 and up.

Conferences to deepen knowledge

In addition to the workshops,"Forêt en Scène" offers a program of lectures on a variety of themes relating to the forest and current issues. Experts, scientists, artists and climatologists will share their knowledge and perspectives on topics such as forest management in the face of climate change, young people's commitment to the environment, and the challenges of cohabitation and managing forest areas as a common good.

A committed and festive event

Beyond its educational aspect, "Forêt en Scène" is also a festive event, with musical moments, ecological dance performances by the Minuit 12 collective, and open-air yoga sessions. The forest refreshment stand, run by Yes We Camp, will offer refreshments and vegetarian meals, underlining the event's commitment to responsible eating.

To take part in certain activities, prior registration on the ONF website is recommended. The Académie du Climat is easily accessible by public transport, with metro and vélib' stations nearby. Admission to the Academy is free, with a refreshment bar on site. The doors will be open on Saturday 23 from 11am to midnight, and on Sunday 24 from 11am to 6pm, offering a great opportunity to immerse yourself in climate issues in a convivial setting.

In short,"Forêt en Scène" offers something for everyone, young and old, through free discoveries for all those wishing to explore the wonders of forests, all in a friendly, festive atmosphere in the heart of Paris.
