The Fête de la Nature, which showcases nature throughout France, also awaits you in Paris at the Parc Zoologique. It's a unique opportunity to reconnect with the environment through a series of free events. This annual event takes place in May, and this year it coincides with the 10th anniversary of the reopening of the Parc Zoologique de Paris, an important milestone for one of the capital's most emblematic sites. Mark your calendars for May 25 and 26, and get ready to explore nature in a fun and educational way.
The park offers a deep dive into the world of often misunderstood and unjustly feared species such as spiders, bats, lizards, snakes and amphibians. Experts will be on hand to demystify these creatures and explain their crucial role in our ecosystems. The Lake Belt pedestrian walkway will be transformed into a veritable hub of discovery, where the public can take part in a variety of activities from 10am to 5pm.
Christine Rollard, renowned arachnologist from the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, will be on hand for a series of walks and presentations on the fascinating world of spiders. Expect to change your perspective on these extraordinary creatures after discovering their exceptional sensory abilities and impressive constructions.
Naturalist Quentin Rouy will guide you through the secret world of bats, unveiling the myths surrounding them and presenting their essential ecological roles. This family-friendly experience is accessible to children aged 6 and over.
The Société Herpétologique de France also invites you to discover the reptiles and amphibians of our region. This exploration will be an opportunity to learn more about these often little-known species and the best ways to protect them.
Don't miss the street show"Photosynthèse" by Compagnie des Arbres, which promises to be as instructive as it is entertaining. This lively, interactive show explains how plants produce their food and the oxygen we breathe.
Beyond the scientific discoveries, the event is also a convivial place where you can enjoy snacks such as hot dogs, ice creams and waffles while strolling around.
Access to Fête de la Nature activities is free of charge and only takes place on the pedestrian walkway of the Route de la Ceinture de lac, but admission to the Paris Zoological Park remains subject to a charge.
This festival is a wonderful opportunity for all Parisians and visitors to celebrate the diversity of nature, and to raise awareness among youngsters of the importance of species conservation and environmental research. Come one, come all to celebrate and learn in a green setting.
