Rendez-vous aux jardins 2024 invites us to discover the Parc de Diane in the Yvelines on Saturday June 1, 2024. Take part in the "Pousse de nouages" workshop with artist Audrey Cavalloni from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and let yourself be surprised by the collective creativity and beauty of nature in this enchanting setting.
As a reminder, the Rendez-vous aux jardins is an annual event organized throughout France to celebrate the diversity and richness of parks and gardens. Created in 2003 by the French Ministry of Culture, the event takes place on the first weekend in June. It offers the public the opportunity to discover public and private gardens, often exceptionally open for the occasion. There are guided tours, workshops, conferences, exhibitions and events for young and old alike. The aim is to raise awareness of the art of gardening, to protect nature, and to enhance the value of our landscape heritage.
Parc de Diane, located in the Yvelines department, is a veritable oasis of greenery, inviting you to relax and discover. Nestled in the heart of an enchanting landscape, this park offers a diversity of themed gardens, vast lawns and charming shaded paths. Visitors can admire rare plant species and enjoy the tranquil setting, far from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
Among the park's treasures is the majestic Arbre de Diane, a historic plane tree donated by Diane de Poitiers, the favorite of King Henri II, and planted around 1556. This impressive tree, with its 31-metre height and 43-metre spread, is one of the finest specimens in France. Its particularity lies in the natural layering of its massive branches, which plunge into the ground to create new roots and cuttings.
L'Arbre de Diane, planted around 1556 by Diane de Poitiers, favorite of King Henri II, is an essential part of Les Clayes-sous-Bois' heritage. Robert Bourdu, a renowned specialist, describes this specimen as magnificently balanced, with branches likened to muscular arms, evoking the strong self-confidence of Diane de Poitiers in her day. By planting this tree, Diane would have wanted to mark her territory indelibly.
The park also features historic buildings, adding to the charm of this iconic location. Picnic areas and children's play areas make the visit enjoyable for all ages. Perfect for a family getaway or a romantic stroll, Parc de Diane captivates with its peaceful ambience and unspoilt natural setting.
In any case, it's the ideal green setting for a lovely Rendez-vous aux Jardins in the Yvelines.
