During the 1924 Paris Olympic Games, the Union des Artistes Russes à Paris staged a grand Olympic Ball in costume. One hundred years later, to coincide with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Maison-Atelier Foujita in Villiers-le-Bâcle, Essonne, is reviving this tradition with its Grand Bal olympique on Saturday July 13.
Come and relive the special atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties at a swinging, dancing ball! Costumes are welcome, so you can experience this immersion to the full (especially as there will be a competition on the day), and there's plenty of entertainment on the program too. There will be cooking and tofu discovery workshops, martial arts demonstrations and guided tours of the home and studio of painter Léonard Foujita, who still lives in Essonne. The day will close with a concert and swing ball, starting at 4 p.m., followed by an evening of dancing organized by the Villiers-le-Bâcle town council.
Fast food will also be available on site, from 12pm to 3pm.
See you all day on Saturday, July 13, at the Atelier-Foujita house for a great day of entertainment!
