It's thenature event not to be missed at the beginning of June 2024: the Rendez-vous aux Jardins are back from May 31 to June 2 all over France. Over the course of a weekend, public and private gardens open their doors to the general public, offering guided tours, workshops and events (walks, initiations, demonstrations...). So why not discover the gardens of Paris and the Ile-de-France region, with family, friends, lovers or on your own that weekend?
The Jardin du Luxembourg is a group of gardens of different styles : located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, it was created in 1612 under the reign of Marie de Médicis. The garden has a French-style section in line with the palace, and English-style sections on the rue Guynemer side, as well as an orchard. At Le Luco, as it's familiarly called by local residents, you can stroll along the avenues lined with majestic trees, admire the sculptures and fountains, or relax on one of the garden's emblematic green chairs.
The Senate also administers and manages a series of greenhouses, which are both a place for producing plants to embellish the garden and decorate the flowers of the Palais du Luxembourg, and a place for conserving a plant heritage dating back to the mid-19th century and maintained by the horticultural school of the Jardin du Luxembourg. This garden is just as enjoyable for young and old alike, as children can enjoy the various play areas, merry-go-rounds and puppets, as well as sailboats to navigate on the large basin! It's a great way to spend an afternoon, without feeling like you're in the heart of Paris!
