For once, the Foire du Trône is back ahead of schedule this year. Indeed, with the Pelouse de Reuilly being requisitioned with a view to setting up a military security camp in early May for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Europe's oldest fair and France's biggest funfair, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, is not only being brought forward, but also shortened. The Fair will run from Friday March 22 to Sunday April 21, 2024.
Usually open in April and May, the Foire du Trône is limited to a single month of operation this year. This is a source of concern for fairgoers from an economic point of view. In fact, the month of May, with its numerous public holidays, is normally their best month. So this year, we're getting ahead of the game and taking advantage of the spring vacations, and even before!
The Foire du Trône opens to us every day from 12 noon. It then closes at 11.00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and on Sundays, including school vacations and public holidays, and at 1.00 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and the eve of public holidays.
As every year, young and old alike will be able to enjoy the many attractions on site. Once again this year, the fairground's 350 attractions are sure to amaze and delight .
A not-to-be-missed event, the fair brings together all generations. It's a true cultural event where all ages, all socio-professional categories, all religions... and for whom the common denominator is to have fun with family or friends!
So, are you ready for a smile and a good shake of the head? See you on the Reuilly lawn from March 22 to April 21, 2024. As every year, the funfair is organizing a fundraising evening to benefit a charity. The inaugural event will take place on Friday, March 22, so stay tuned for details.
Did you know ? The Foire du Trône is recognized as the oldest funfair in France, with origins dating back to the time of Lothaire in 957. It wasn't until 1805 that a modest funfair first appeared in the faubourg Saint-Antoine. Over time, the fair grew in size and spread over the Pelouse de Reuilly, even reaching the neighboring streets and boulevards in the direction of the barrière du Trône.
In 1957, the fair celebrated a thousand years of existence. In 1964, the fair moved to the edge of the Bois de Vincennes and continues to attract crowds of young and old every spring, eager to enjoy the 350 attractions spread over more than 10 hectares on the Pelouse de Reuilly. Sweet tooths gather in front of stalls offering sweets such as cotton candy, pommes d'amour, crêpes, marshmallows and churros. And as tradition dictates, the Foire du Trône lights up with a spectacular fireworks display on Labor Day every year.
So, are you ready for the return of loop-the-loops, ghost trains and other tasty treats?
