There are places we'd like to keep just for ourselves, so we can enjoy them whenever we like. Such is the case with Taishō. The ephemeral terrace installed on the Rotonde de l'Aquarium de Paris is back in the middle of greenery, in the Trocadéro gardens, to embellish our days and evenings. Behind this terrace, with its simple, colorful decor, lies a veritable gourmet treasure trove that no one would suspect. For this new summer season, Taisho has teamed up with the famous 1-star restaurant Étude.
The entire team of the restaurant, usually nestled on rue du Bouquet de Longchamp in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, will be taking up residence on the Taisho terrace this summer to pamper your taste buds with an audacious menu that is an undeniable invitation to travel. For Taisho, starred chef Keisuke Yamagishi of the restaurant Étude has opted for flavors straight from the Land of the Rising Sun.
Short but effective, the menu proposed especially for Taisho is already mouth-watering on discovery. The concept? Izakaya-style plates, to be shared at any time of day, from 12pm to 10pm, including a melting salmon tartar with kabosu (a Japanese citrus fruit). For carnivores, opt for the succulent Mountain Red Pie Beef tataki with yuzu sauce and dried bonito, or prefer real yakitori, those generous beef skewers. You'll love the gourmet croquettes with edamame, the famous immature soy beans.
Alternatively, let yourself be tempted by crispy chicken wrapped in panko (Japanese breadcrumbs) with tonkatsu sauce. For vegetarians, try dashi maki tamago, a Japanese-style rolled omelette seasoned with dried bonito. Vegans turn to tofu in soy sauce with pickled onions and strips of dried kombu seaweed.
For lunch and dinner, the menu expands with more platters, always impeccably and carefully prepared. Discover a salmon burger with a creamy nori sauce (the famous Japanese seaweed), or a beef Pie rouge stew with Japanese spices.
But if you had to choose just one dish, order the incredible Nasu Dengaku with your eyes closed. Ideal for vegetarians, this generous plate will surprise you with its soft eggplant topped with a sweet miso and herb sauce, not forgetting sesame seeds and blueberries. The balance of flavors is perfect and the seasonings always just right. A real treat to be devoured without moderation, all facing the sumptuous, glittering Eiffel Tower.
And to top it all off, don't forget to end this magnificent meal on a sweet note with one of the incredible desserts by pastry chef Mika Okazawa. Our favorite? The grand cru itakuya (Brazilian cocoa) chocolate tart with its light, gourmet ganache on a crisp cookie.
We also fell for the Hojicha aisu ice cream, with its surprising woody and roasted flavors. A wonderful discovery, light and refreshing. Finally, what can we say about this fine matcha Catalan cream, sublimated by a caramelized cage? Simply stunning!
To accompany all this, you'll find a yuzu beer imagined by Étude's very friendly restaurant manager, as well as a fine selection of wines, including Crozes Hermitage La Petite Ruche, a Syrah that reveals all its finesse, elegance and perfect balance to accompany these different dishes.
Chef Keisuke Yamagishi 's cuisine has totally won us over. If you're not familiar with it, then the Taisho terrace is the perfect opportunity to try it, thanks to its very affordable prices for top-level quality. The icing on the cake is the idyllic setting overlooking the Eiffel Tower, and the impeccable, friendly service provided by the team.
And let's not forget the cigar lounge on the terrace, with its wide selection of Cuban and international cigars and Cuban rums.
In short, Taisho is the place to be this summer in Paris!
