A comforting spot that warms our hearts and taste buds at cocktail hour? We take you to a neighborhood nugget nestled in the heart of the second arrondissement with an amazing concept! By day, we know this address as Shosh, a grocery store with a catering background, with a warm atmosphere that makes us feel at home while we taste the best of Israeli flavors. At nightfall, this place imagined by the chefs of Shabour becomes Shana, a gourmet and joyful tavern, where we go to drink and enjoy ourselves. Put them together and you get Shoshana, which means "grandmother" in Hebrew: you get the idea!
Here, you are welcomed like old friends, with a glass of sparkling wine that you sip while consulting the menu. The recipes you discover in this wine bar are those of the grandmothers of the team, whose portraits are displayed above a fireplace overlooking the kitchen. A touching attention that contributes to this comforting cocoon!
In this spot where a good atmosphere reigns, one savors to the rhythm of oriental music the tapas which make you discover typical dishes of the Jewish kitchen. Some are lulled into their childhood memories while others have the opportunity to taste specialties still too unknown. A true temple of sharing that combines the sense of transmission with the pleasure of discovery!
Among the favorites on the menu, we highly recommend the chicken liver withan extremely melting and spicy terrine topped with an egg salad and pickles, as well as the Soukariote, lamb brochettes full of flavors, with grilled notes as we like, accompanied by red onions and chili pepper on top of a malawah-style patty: two plates that should make meat lovers happy. And if you were wondering: yes, it's kosher
For lovers of friands or mezzes, there is no way to miss the ultra-moist and buttery Borekas, with kashkaval (a sheep's cheese of Hungarian origin) with feta and shabazi (a condiment with coriander, lemon and green chili that can also be found in the Soukariote).
As for sweet tooths, generosity is also in order for their taste buds at dessert time! Calling all chocoholics, the generous Beni Mousse will be sure to please you, with its comforting side and its cocoa notes that have the merit of not saturating our palate, thanks to the salt crystals that cover this homemade chocolate mousse. For a little more freshness (but not so much lightness), the cookie cake with its soft texture and its passion fruit coulis will allow you to close this tasting on a note of pep!
Another address that we will leave with regrets with the promise to return again!
