L’Improbable is aptly named: while coming in the tiny rue des Guillemites, we can’t expect to find, behind this green double door a large cozy café set under a high roof made of corrugated iron. Inside, a wood counter, a kitchen-foodtruck and many varied seats (and high chairs, metal chairs and of course comfortable sofas covered in colorful throw pillows) enjoy us.
It’s impossible not to feel like at home in this hybrid place, a made-up place and decorated like a flea market. Large, not expensive (the coffee costs €2), we can read books, enjoy a huge cookie or a huge sandwich and generosity oblige, while listening to a very lovely jazzy music.
Not very visited during the day, the place is perfect for wild coworkers, for a break in the afternoon, between two shops or to read a novel bought at the Les Mots à la bouche bookstore, next to the place. At nighttime, L’Improbable closes early but not too early (11 p.m.): we start the night here with cocktails and beers. It’s really our favorite place to be to have a break from the almost-unbearable hustle and bustle of the Marais neighborhood.
