On a small cobbled street in Pigalle, you'll find Marlusse et Lapin, a veritable neighborhood institution where regulars gather after dark. But this little bar is like no other, with its retro allure and Narnia-like wooden cupboard, opening onto a more-than-original back room.
No, you don't have too much alcohol in your blood as soon as you open the door. There's a bed, a bathtub, a dressing table and a sewing machine, all unusual spots that look like they've just come out of a junk shop, where you can settle down for a drink like no other!
Like the rest of the bar, this charming room from another era is quite small, with two adjoining rooms, so it's best to come early if you want to enjoy the cosy atmosphere quietly before the bar fills up with laughter and beer. The house specialty is absinthe, served the old-fashioned way, but it's not for everyone!
You'll be able to drink beer, of course, starting at 5 euros a pint (a rarity in the neighborhood), as well as house planteur, a selection of wines and numerous cocktails starting at 7 euros, for a rather affordable, festive atmosphere until 2am. For those who need to wash down their beverages with food, there's none on the menu here, so make sure you've had a snack beforehand!
You'll feel right at home, just about ready to take off your jacket and leave it on the coat rack, before leaning back at the desk for a drink after a hard day's work, chatting with friends or complete strangers, the space being conducive to meeting new people!
In short, a real neighborhood bar like there aren't many left, totally atypical and memorable, with friendly staff and a kitsch decor that's totally up to scratch!
