If I tell you “Little Red Door”, you say…? Parisian institution excelling in the art of cocktail since 2012, place listed as one of the 50 best bars in the world for 7 years, and consequently, the place to go to sip a delicious beverage in Paris!
Every Fall, regulars are impatient to discover the Little Red Door’s new menu to keep things interesting for their taste buds. This year, the LRD – for friends – decided to pay tribute to French producers by giving them pride of place with this new list called “Grounded”.
For this 2021-2022 menu, bar manager Rory Shepherd and his team pair up with 10 French farmers specialized in the farming of 10 ingredients, staple produces given the “bleu, blanc, rouge” label and that have been used as a base for the 10 new cocktails on the list. For instance, it features yellow beetroot from Orne, crème fraiche from Isigny in Calvados, red kiwi from Lot-et-Garonne and even Île-de-France tomatoes.
The Walnut cocktail is a genuine heart-stopper, based on walnuts from Marie-Lise & Sabine Matras, in Drôme. In addition to walnut syrup, Rory has come up with Whiskey scotch, Baldoria Dry Rosso and Spumante Rosso to deliver a perfectly balanced and spot-on cocktail.
And what to say about the exquisite Lavender cocktail? For this refreshing beverage, Rory worked with lavender from Lisa & Sophie Mazzoni, in Bouches-du-Rhône to create a lavender soda spruced up with single cask, Calvados, Baldoria Dry and Vermouth.
For even more originality, discover the cocktail based on crème fraiche from Isigny from Edouard Mauger de Varennes & Jeanne Poussier, in Calvados. The shaker masters have decided to mix Porters liquor, Jules Chopin blanc de blanc gin and ratafia.
For people loving flavors coming from south of France, discover the cocktail based on olives from Nyons from Florian Charrasse & Marion Fiquatier in Drôme. Behind this cocktail hides a delicious olive spirit with Rum Fire gin, oregano cordial rum, mountain spring and tonic.
For a more citrus taste, enjoy the lemon cocktail from Etienne Schaller, Pyrénées-Orientales. Picture this: lemon bitter with Ncnean Botanical, Mondino Cask and sparkling wine!
As per usual, the talented mixologists from the Little Red Door have worked hard to come up with these original and perfectly balanced recipes to discover now!
To push the experience even further, the Little Red Door displays wonderful portraits of the 10 farmers on the walls of the bar, shot by photographer Roman Jehanno. And of course, they are also featured in the new LRD’s list designed as a wonderful book.
