If you happen to be in Paris 17th arrondissement in the very lively Etoile neighborhood, meet in a quiet place set 4 rue de l’Arc de Triomphe… A metallic façade, a code name, UC61: no, you’re not in front of a bunker but a cocktail bar!
UC61 aims at looking like an old submarine and mixes to this metallic atmosphere a few glamorous details. Lights are rare, the atmosphere is quiet, a nice little jazzy music accompanies the clinking ice cubs and takes the shiest dates in a whirlwind of seduction. Of course, you can meet friends for long and creative discussions, comfortably sat at the back of the bar.
The aesthetic of the place is a success and will mainly please men (in the smoking room, delicately decorated and accessorized, you’ll find Lui and GQ magazines). By the way, the bar is created by a man who explains that as a child, he was fascinated by an old German submarine washed up near his house… And he wanted to recreate the atmosphere at the UC61. Mission accomplished!
Let’s (finally) move to the main subject: cocktails. The inspired female barmaid will serve creations according to her mood: it’s good, fresh, we love it. On the menu, we love the fantastic names (the Simone de Beauvoir, the Grand Jeu…) and the ingredients used: we’ll remember the cocktail that looks like a bowl of cereals with milk, but things aren’t always what they look! It’s funny but most of all, it’s delicious. In other words, at UC61, we have a really good time!
