Since its opening in 2015, La Mezcaleria has become a huge favorite of Parisians and tourists. This speakeasy nestled behind hotel 1K kitchens provides an exotic setting and treats you with cocktails based on Mezcal, an alcohol based on agave and originally coming from Mexico. We must say that if Mezcal is now available almost everywhere in Paris, La Mezcaleria has been the pioneer.
It's actually here you can find the largest collection of Mezcal in Paris. This Mexican alcohol, coming from the distillation of agave juice, has a rather deep smoky taste. Over 100 references are available at the bar, mezcals found in the deepest areas in Mexico.
And to extend the experience, the bar keeps on changing and offers a new decor, a new menu still with a very creative vibe! Managed by new barman chef Michael Kernoa, La Mezcaleria invites us to discover new creations with a quirky menu it has the secret of.
Each cocktail is described along with an enigmatic drawing by Surf_rou, a mysterious poem written by Fausto VI, as well as a long list of ingredients spoiling the gustatory experience hiding behind these creations. We must say that when it comes to intriguing guests, La Mezcaleria knows how to do it!
May novices and undecided souls be rest assured, the bar dream team is always happy to help you out. Ortega Sister, Queen BBQ or even D.Y.K.I.L Martini, all in all 11 cocktails are to be discovered. As many original creations which visual is as sophisticated as the recipes.
So, don't be surprised if you find a shark fin in the Dick the Shark or a unicorn showing off its... horn in your Really Gum. As for us, we went for the bubbly Muxhes, a cocktail with character and based on mezcal Bozal Cuixe, Mahina coco clement, red curry, Galliano and Wray&nephew.
The sweetness of the coconut perfectly matches with the spiciness of the red curry and together, they deliciously enhance the smoky notes of mezcal. Served in a glass coated in fizzy sugar, it takes us down to memory lane and this creation is flawless. And to enjoy this genius cocktails, let's have some South-American tapas!
It's hard to resist La Mezcaleria spirit!
