Fancy a trip back to the 19th century? That's the idea behindHôtel Monte Cristo, located in a small street in Paris's 5th arrondissement. The idea is to offer travelers the charm and artistic codes of the 19th century, combined of course with super-modern comfort.
This return to the past is achieved, first and foremost, through the furnishings of theHôtel Monte Cristo. In fact, over 200 period pieces have been found here and there to give the hotel an irresistible cachet - stuffed animal trophies, a cabinet of curiosities - and the materials chosen also have a lot to do with it: velvets, earthenware tiles, wall stains and so on.
The rest of the furnishings are special creations, handcrafted for the hotel in India, Italy and Portugal, and invite the visitor to travel thanks to the tasteful blend of different genres: French salons in crimson colors, orientalism with its chamarré motifs or chinoiseries and lacquerware.
In the 50 rooms of theHôtel Monte Cristo, 3 of which are suites and 4 of which are boudoir rooms, the charm continues to endure. The bathrooms feature precious materials such as earthenware and terrazzo, and antique mirrors.
All hotel guests have access to a 16-meter-long swimming pool and sauna, nestled in the underground passageways, as well as to Paris's first rum bar, 1802 Monte Cristo, which offers a menu featuring a selection of the finest rums, both vintage and arranged.
A hotel that the Count of Monte Cristo would not have disowned!
