Roland-Garros is back in action, and the whole of Porte d'Auteuil is abuzz with activity. Located at the end of the very chic 16th arrondissement, the area attracts not only tennis fans these days, but also curious onlookers eager for sun and idleness, who have spotted one of the prettiest terraces in Paris .
It's located on the second floor of the Brasserie Auteuil, which has undergone a complete makeover under the watchful eye of decorator Laura Gonzalez.
Here, a peaceful haven of 250 covers unfolds under a wooden pergola, sheltering olive trees, climbing roses and ethnic cushions . Noble materials give the place an exotic chic feel.
The same recipe applies to the plates. The dishes are carefully prepared and the Mediterranean flavors well-balanced. The salmon cappaccio is marinated in citrus fruits (23 euros) for a hint of bitterness much appreciated in hot weather. Semi-cooked tuna and pan-fried squid are accompanied by a carrot and curucuma mousseline (23.50 euros). Often complicated, the fish is perfectly cooked, revealing a tender tuna at its heart.
The place, with its Tuscan country house feel, isn't just for gourmet breaks. People come here at all hours of the day, to drink a coffee or a detox juice (including the very good Green Détox with kiwi, cucumber, fresh mint and lemon at 6.50 euros), share a plank or a pizza, and sip cocktails after dark under an LED-studded sky.
And if the weather turns stormy or the wind picks up, you can always take refuge inside with its large, rounded, cosy banquettes, under XXL lantern-shaped lights. You can even play a game of billiards to liven up your evening. A change of scenery guaranteed.
