A brand-new French-Mexican restaurant has opened in Pigalle, between the neighborhood sex-shops. We owe this new concept called Jesus Maria to the founder of Belleville-based Café Chéri – appreciated by partygoers.
At Jesus Maria, you can drink up to 2 a.m. by choosing among the 200 tequila and mezcal references and even on the homemade cocktails. We can also eat dishes cooked by Mexican chef Antonio Cortes who dreams of making people discover the real Mexican cuisine, while preserving the elegance of French cuisine.
On the menu, a dozen dishes costing from €4 to €14. The best is to go with your friends and order several dishes like Mexican tapas, since they are not very big plates, and eat off each other’s plates. Among the dishes available: whelks (€5) and cod ceviche (€12) for the sea side.
Moving on to the land side, Ajillo snails (€8), confit duck tostada (€10), pork belly candied with orange (€13), confit beef chunk (€10), South-Western foie gras tacos served in a blue tortilla (€10); and of course, the irresistible guacamole (€7.5). And for dessert, crunchy churros (€6)!
If you do somehow feel peckish before going to Machine du Moulin Rouge or elsewhere in the area, Jesus Maria, open every day until 2 a.m., is ready to welcome you.
