Les Tontons Veg, the restaurant that puts vegan street-food in the spotlight, in République

Who said vegan food wasn't the best way to treat yourself? Gone are the days of simple, unseasoned tofu: at Tontons Veg, we love good food, but without the animal cruelty! Just off Place de la République, you'll find this small vegan street-food restaurant, which revisits burgers and nuggets in a vegan sauce, with great taste, in every sense of the word, and above all homemade, right before your eyes!

In a family-friendly, accessible atmosphere, you're comfortably seated, welcomed by the two friends, Amir and Vincent, who run the restaurant and its relaxing pastel colors. The à la carte menu features six different burgers, nuggets, chicken bites and falafel, served with delicious plain or herb fries. As for drinks, we're keeping with the fast-food theme, with cola, but it's organic and good for you! You can also choose between different flavors of tea or lemonade, certified healthy and perfect for refreshing the palate after a spicy sauce!

Wondering what's inside a vegan burger? A plant-based beyond meat steak that replaces traditional meat and surprises with its pleasant texture, a far cry from the rubbery steaks of the early days of veganism. In fact, it's so similar in appearance that it could be mistaken for a vegan steak! There's also vegan cheddar, an alternative to cheese, combined with exceptional sauces that are well worth the detour. Suffice to say, once you've eaten at this address, you'll never want to eat fast food again, because the tastes and textures are so interesting!

It's hard to choose, but we opted for the spicy Kimchi, a veritable explosion of flavors in the mouth, surrounded by a soft, golden bun, and the creamy, melt-in-your-mouth Cheeseburger, spiced up with a little sweet secret sauce that's truly delicious. Here, there's no need to remove the pickles, as they've been replaced by cucumber pickles, an original touch that's sure to impress! For a bit of Provence or Lebanon on the plate, you can also find Arlette and Teta, with southern flavors, and even panisse fries!

Special mention must go to the fries with Provence herbs, a welcome change from the more traditional ones, and especially to the nuggets, an absolute delight. A little thicker than the chicken ones, but with a divine taste we don't remember finding anywhere else! And let's not forget dessert, for those with a sweet tooth, with a homemade chocolate praline frizza calzone, a treat for lovers of fried pastries, and cocoa of course. And given the size of the latter, we'd advise you not to eat it alone!

In short, if you want to eat vegan in the République area, you won't be disappointed and will leave with a full belly and a delighted palate. If your budget's a little bigger than a fast-food restaurant, you'll clearly get your money's worth at Tontons Veg!
