The first hotel to hide behind a cocktail bar is Oh La La! Direction Place de la Bastille.

You've heard of speakeasies, those hidden bars that you discover by pushing back doors, like the Mezcaleria and its hidden bar within the hidden bar, the Malicia. But are you familiar with speakeasy hotels?

In May 2019, a cocktail bar x speakeasy hotel opened its doors in the Bastille district, the Oh La La! Behind the project is Julien Trollet, already head of Pile ou Face, Mini-Pong and RPR.

This cocktail bar is the place to go in the morning for a coffee-croissant, or in the evening for an afterwork with colleagues or friends, comfortably seated on a plush banquette or around a high table, to enjoy a cocktail and a selection of tapas: organic hummus (9€), tuna rillettes with tarragon (6€), wakame carrot caviar (6€) or a mixed board to share.

As for cocktails, the Oh La La offers 9, from the most classic (Moscow Mule, Gin Tonic, Mojito) to the most original like the Howling Punch (rum, angostura bitter, vanilla syrup, Jamaican chili, pear juice, lime) or the Burnin' Sour (whisky, amaretto, rosemary syrup, apricot juice, lemon, egg white).

A little further on, a door hidden behind a bookcase reveals a staircase leading to the 6 floors of the Oh La La's 16 hidden rooms. Bright, comfortable and designer (we love the Japanese-style raised bed), they all offer a breathtaking view of the Place de la Bastille and its famous Colonne de Juillet!

And no, we can already hear you coming: the hullabaloo of the Place de la Bastille can't be heard at all from the rooms; thanks to the triple glazing, we slept soundly!

In short, if you never want to come home tipsy on your scooter again, you now have an address where you can have a good time with friends and climb a few steps to get to bed.

Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health. Drink in moderation.

Please note that it's been over 4 years since our last visit, so the place and experience may have changed.
