Sixty years ago, a young couturier named Yves Saint Laurent presented his first eponymous collection in Paris. Today, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum pays tribute to this visionary and fashion genius with a dazzling anniversary exhibition, to be discovered from October 14, 2022 to May 14, 2023.
Titled"GOLD, Les ors d'Yves Saint Laurent" it celebrates the color gold, emblematic of the designer's work. From the first buttons on his coats, to his infinitely golden dresses, for him, everything is a matter of adding this hint of light, this precious nuance, which confers a sometimes subtle, sometimes flamboyant glow to the silhouettes. Brocades, lace, lamé, sequins, leather, embroidery ..., no fabric escapes the golden touch ofYves Saint Laurent.
"Modern black. I always light it up with gold, in buttons, in belts, in chains", Yves Saint Laurent
During the stroll, we discover the jewel dress from the fall-winter collection of 1966 and photographed by David Bailey, or the sparkling dresses, once worn by Zizi Jeanmaire and Catherine Deneuve. A true testament to the exaltation of women's power and the Palace years, in a sparkling party spirit is composed during this exhibition curated by Elsa Janssen and Anna Klossowski (daughter of Loulou de La Falaise and goddaughter of Yves Saint Laurent).
In total, gold sparkles on some forty Haute-Couture and Ready-to-Wear dresses, jewelry, perfumes ... We also see in gold on the side of the collection of objects of Pierre Bergé, brought back as a souvenir from Oran and Marrakech by Yves Saint Laurent, or accessories created by Loulou de la Falaise.
Immerse yourself in a river of gold and Yves Saint Laurent finery, in a radiant exhibition recalling the sunny memories and sumptuous evenings of the couturier.
