From January 11 to February 23, 2025, Ernesto Neto transforms Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche into a poetic, sensory interlude for the 10th edition of the department store's January carte blanche. With the exhibition "Le La Serpent", the Brazilian artist reinvents the myth of Adam and Eve, celebrating nature, humanity and spirituality through monumental crochet works.

To celebrate the 10ᵉ edition of its "Carte blanche de janvier", Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche invites Brazilian artist Ernesto Neto to invest its iconic spaces. From January 11 to February 23, 2025, this virtuoso of monumental installations offers a sensory and spiritual immersion through thefree exhibition Le La Serpent, a luminous and positive reinterpretation of the founding myth of Adam and Eve... or rather "Eve and Adam" according to his vision.

Internationally renowned for his immersive crochet installations, such as "Leviathan Thot" at the Pantheon in 2006, Neto creates works resembling living organisms, designed to be traversed, inhabited and felt. Soliciting all the senses, his installations reconnect human beings with nature, inviting viewers to experiment freely with their bodies, minds and emotions. Under the glass roofs of Le Bon Marché, around the central escalator, on the second floor and in the shop windows on rue de Sèvres, his suspended works, made from natural materials such as cotton, wood and even spices, come to life.

With Le La Serpent, Ernesto Neto reinvents the biblical myth by transforming the bitten apple from a symbol of fall to one of awakening: the starting point of our humanity. Each XXL textile sculpture, handmade in his workshop in Rio de Janeiro, expresses his poetic, spiritual and hopeful vision, in which art becomes a space of profound connection between man and his environment.

Since 2016, Le Bon Marché has transformed every January into an arty rendez-vous, welcoming figures from the contemporary scene such as Ai Weiwei, Joana Vasconcelos, Prune Nourry, Subodh Gupta, Daniel Buren and now Ernesto Neto. Their only constraint? Create around white, in a nod to the famous "Month of White" introduced in the 19th century by the department store's founders, Aristide and Marguerite Boucicaut.

With Ernesto Neto, contemporary art is crocheted at Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche. The cultural carte blanche of the new year!
