Located next to the historic Manufacture de la Céramique de Sèvres, the Musée de la Céramique de Sèvres aims to immerse us in the ancient art of ceramics, and to perpetuate its know-how by offering exhibitions for the general public and fun, creative activities for young and old alike.
This Saturday, December 7, the museum is offering a variety of free workshops for all ages, enabling children and their parents to discover the fascinating world of ceramics. You'll be able to try your hand at modelling techniques with a unique marzipan pastillage workshop, hear the many sounds of porcelain, and understand the different ceramic materials: stoneware, terracotta, porcelain and earthenware. These workshops offer a rare opportunity to get your hands dirty and leave with your own creation, a fun and educational way to explore the art of ceramics as a family.
A historic setting for an unforgettable outing
The Cité de Céramique de Sèvres has been an institution since 1740. Even today, 120 ceramists create exceptional pieces in a variety of materials (pastes, colors, enamels...) using ancient techniques that have been preserved, some on behalf of the French State, and invite the general public to discover their creations in the adjoining museum.
The Museum houses almost 50,000 works, including ceramic objects, paintings, sketches and even samples of raw materials. Currently, the museum is showcasing 500 objects from its collection in an exhibition entitled "Merveilles!", to mark its 200th anniversary!
