Popeye’s aka Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits is a fast-food restaurant chain especially famous for their fried chicken. With their flashy orange logo, the color of Louisiana and hearty recipes, it is coming soon to the city, statring from February 1, 2023, to indulge you.
On the menu, the staple Chicken Sandwich, a sandwich consisting of chicken marinated in a secret spice blend for twelve hours, before being breadcrumbed and fired! In each country the brand settles in, the goal is to get local supplies and adapt recipes. on the occasion, chef Laura Zani worked for over a year to source produces grown in France: chicken is 100% French! Buns are very fluffy and yellow like a brioche.
You can then choose between the classic or spicy mayonnaise to uplift your burger, served with a side of Cajun spice fries, thin and crispy. Without forgetting dips: classic ketchup and mayo, and four Popeye's sauces, the garlic mayo, a light garlic-flavored mayo, the red hot, very spicy, the barbecue or the old-fashioned mustard.
As for vegans, do not worry, the menu features three burger recipes (for the opening) including one based on 100% plant-based steak, cooked in the oven and made with kidney beans, a typical dish from Louisiana. Chef Peter Jenner was entrusted with controlling the restaurant was complying with French recipes, and you can see him working hard breadcrumb-coating and frying chicken...
Here, the staff members are not only pawns but they all are "executive chefs", as stated on each of their aprons. Furthermore, Popeye's is a "hybrid restaurant", as restaurant manager Xavier explains: "We provide seated dining, we clear the table and there are real chefs in the kitchen", he says, showing the open-plan kitchen designed for "more transparency about the fabrication of our sandwiches".
Allow €8 for a menu - Cajun fries, chicken burger and large drink - but rates are not definitively set yet. For each menu purchased, you are gifted Lagniape, some fried bread from Louisiana, that means "gift" in the local language.
