July 14th Fête Nationale in Pontoise (95): fireworks and popular ball

It's the big return of the Fête nationale in the Ile-de-France region, and now more than ever is the time to choose where you're going to party this July 14, 2024. In Pontoise, the event promises to be festive, with a grand bal populaire and the traditional fireworks display to round things off.

The French National Holiday, celebrated on July 14th, commemorates two major historical events: the storming of the Bastille in 1789, which marked the start of the French Revolution, and the Fête de la Fédération in 1790, a symbol of national unity. Established in 1880, this day is emblematic of French freedom and democracy, and is celebrated each year with military parades(notably on the Champs-Élysées in Paris), fireworks displays, concerts and popular dances.

The program:

• 10am: departure of the veterans' flag-bearer procession from Place du Souvenir
• 10:30am: departmental ceremony (taking up arms) in Place de l'Hôtel de Ville
• 9pm: popular dance, Bossut district
• 11pm: fireworks, Bossut district
