Variant Delta keeps on spreading across the world. The new Covid-19 variant found in April 2021 in India has now been reported in at least 85 countries, the World Health Organization claims this Saturday June 26. WHO says the “Delta is the most transmissible of the variants”, while the body warns the governmental authorities against a likely new surge of the epidemic.
Therefore, since April, and specifically since the vaccination campaign has been increasing at difference pace across the world, the Covid-19 pandemic moves at two speeds, WHO says. Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus reminds the access to vaccine is not the same in all countries.
In France, the Delta variant has made its first two victims in Gers over the past couple of days. Therefore, the local health authorities have announced “an immediate action plan” in order to “prevent a new epidemic surge”.
Elsewhere in the world, Israel – although over 50% of the population has been vaccinated – makes new dramatic measures to limit the spread. In Australia, Portugal and even Bangladesh, the situation is similar. Same situation in Russia, with a 25% increasing contamination toll recorded for the past 7 days.
