Every January, they make us salivate with their beautiful golden dress, under which hides a tantalizing aroma of crunchy puff pastry and almonds. To be enjoyed onEpiphany day, but also before and throughout January, galettes des rois seduce all taste buds. While some gourmets opt for an original pistachio, chocolate or matcha galette, most love the traditional almond galette with its delicious frangipane.
But how do you choose THE almond galette from among all those proposed by pastry chefs? Every year, gourmet competitions are organized in several French départements. Bringing together a large number of artisan bakers, these competitions are an opportunity for the jury to smell, touch and taste the galettes presented in competition, in order to select the best among them. As in previous years, the Syndicat des Boulangers du Grand Paris has chosen its winner for 2025 from a selection of bakers based in Paris, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne.
