For the 38th edition of European Heritage Days, show fans are expected on Sunday September 19, 2021 at the Cirque d’Hiver Bouglione. On the menu: an exclusive tour of the circus to discover the magic happening backstage!

For the 38th edition of European Heritage Days, children and adults are invited to discover the Cirque d’Hiver Bouglione, taking part for the second time in the event on Sunday September 19, 2021. Oldest working circus in the world, it offers you to go backstage and enjoy guided tours.

An emblematic circus from the Parisian show universe filled with history… The Cirque d’Hiver was born on December 11, 1852 thanks to the Duc de Morny, prince Louis Napoleon’s half-brother and architect Jacques Hittorf. An impressive building since it measures 42 meters wide and counts up to 40 windows scattered on 20 sections all around the building – it’s actually an icosagon, naming a twenty-sided polygon. It’s actually here, in 1859 that the flying trapeze was born, an act created by Toulouse-based Jules Léotard. More recently, in 1934, the Bouglione brothers take over the circus as we know it today.

For European Heritage Days 2021, the circus invites families and other curious to come over and discover what happens behind the scenes with one-hour guided tours held on Sunday, only by registration. Enjoy artists' performance cosrtumes, discover shows backgrounds and props, remember the most legendary moments of the venue... The occasion to discover one of the most beautiful venues in Paris…

Is there a better way to spend your Sunday than going backstage in a circus?
