Every year, during the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days), tens of thousands of curious visitors gather at local monuments, public buildings, museums and places of interest. If crowds aren't your thing, don't worry: you can make the most of the JEP, without finding yourself drowned in a mass of visitors. In Essonne, there's no better place to take in the sights while strolling in the fresh air.
On September 21 and 22, 2024, during the Journées du Patrimoine weekend, discover the Château de Courances and its park with 14 springs and 17 water features. Located just 50 kilometers from Paris, Courances is one of the most beautiful gardens in France. The park and its Louis XIII château are well worth a visit. And for this cultural event, the château is offering special rates for visitors!
Listed as a "Monument Historique", the Château de Courances and its park have a beauty to charm us! During the Journées du Patrimoine 2024 , visitors can enjoy guided tours of the park and château, as well as the kitchen garden. You can even buy local vegetables in the garden store, and admire vintage cars parked in the park. And don't forget to bring your own picnic to spend the day!
Close to Paris, Courances is one of France's most beautiful gardens and home to a Louis XIII château, listed as a historic monument. Both the park and the château reflect the different eras and owners who have shaped them. A Renaissance water garden, a classical French park and a Japanese garden coexist harmoniously. The ensemble is fed by 14 springs and punctuated by 17 water features.
This park of surprising beauty, classical and romantic, historic and contemporary, conceals an atmosphere that is both intimate and grandiose. The omnipresence of running water, plants and stone in this 86-hectare landscape, whose creation dates back to the 16th century, is a unique spectacle. The interplay of nature and water, perspective and scale, spectacular reflections and secret springs, shades of green and color, Courances reconciles the idea of rigor with that of freedom.
Take a guided tour of the park to discover the richness and beauty of this garden, with its grandiose yet intimate atmosphere of lines and perspectives, reflections and colors.
