Every mid-September, this is the event that brings together hundreds of thousands of curious people, eager to find out what lies behind our Parisian places of power, to discover secret places in the capital, to gain behind-the-scenes access to historic monuments... Yes, the 41st Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) await you all over France, but especially in Paris and the Île-de-France region on Saturday September 21 and Sunday September 22, 2024. So, this is your chance to take some unusual tours, with your family or not, to discover the most beautiful churches in the Paris region, to explore certain ministries... and to discover, in short, certain places that only open on this occasion.
In Seine-Saint-Denis, the Paris suburb of Le Pré-Saint-Gervais(just above the 19th arrondissement) is the closest suburban town to the center of Paris, but also the smallest communal area in the 93. Once considered a dependency of the town of Pantin, some of its neighborhoods have retained a village atmosphere that is much appreciated by local residents. For the 41st Journées du Patrimoine, Le Pré-Saint-Gervais invites you to discover the town's emblematic squares and sites.
Heritage Days 2024 at the archives of the Préfecture de Police in Le Pré-Saint-Gervais
It's 9am, and the Archives de la Préfecture de Police are opening their doors. Valentin, an intern for the "Boum de connaissances" production company, is waiting outside the entrance. He's a little stressed, as he only has a day to discover and understand who Ravachol was. He has to collect all the documents needed to create the story book for a documentary on the life of this man who gave the Préfecture de Police a hard time! It's fair to say that the validation of Valentin's internship depends on this day...
Come and help Valentin and dive into the history of anarchism in Paris through the sources of the Archives de la Préfecture de Police!
Heritage Days 2024 at the Pré-Saint-Gervais town hall
Gladiator, Rateau, Lit National, Couleurs de Paris, Busso salaisons, Jambon français and Chocolaterie des Lions are just some of the factories that have marked the industrial past of Le Pré Saint-Gervais.
Jean-Baptiste Sémanaz, André Jouanneau, Lucienne Noublanche, Claude Bartolone - the personalities who have brought its recent history to life, not forgetting Jean Jaurès, through his pre-war speeches, the First World War, beyond all the divisions of the workers' movement...
We invite you to take a historical tour around these different themes, without forgetting a few more ancient incursions, the past under the Ancien Régime, the territorial amputations due to the Parisian Fortifications...

Heritage Days 2024 at the Aimé Césaire garden in Le Pré-Saint-Gervais
A skilled worker in precision mechanics, France Demay lives in Le Pré Saint-Gervais. Her two great passions, photography and sport, marked this pre-war era of profound social change.
"The few objects that belonged to my grandfather fit in a trunk. I only knew a few broad strokes of his story: metal worker, amateur sportsman and amateur photographer. Then one day, in a trunk, I discovered some negatives intact in their original boxes. It was a bit like my own 'Mexican suitcase'."
François Demay , grandson of France Demay
Photographic exhibition on view until October 18
Opening on September 21 at 11 a.m.
