In addition to the back-to-school season, September could well be one of our favorite months of the year, since it's always in mid-September that the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days) are organized, a major event in the cultural life of the Paris region that we wouldn't miss for the world. Held this year on September 21 and 22, 2024, the European Heritage Days are back for their 41st edition, with some great visits on the program! Discover the historic sites of Paris and its suburbs, visit former industrial plants steeped in many years of history - in short, take a fresh look at the churches, monuments, cultural sites and other nuggets that make up France's rich heritage.
In the Seine-Saint-Denis département, the town of La Courneuve is also taking part in the 41st Journées du Patrimoine. This dynamic, multicultural town offers a wonderful fusion of cultures from all over the world. La Courneuve also stands out for its commitment to art and culture, with innovative art spaces and a vibrant cultural scene. Its verdant parks, including the best-known, Georges Valbon, make it a beautiful destination in the Paris suburbs in fine weather. Heritage Days 2024 at the Jean Houdremont cultural center in La Courneuve
In 2018, the town of La Courneuve initiated a vast collections project to sort, inventory and relocate the rural collections from the Museum of Vegetable Crops. A new conservation space has been set up in the basements of the Jean Houdremont cultural center, bringing together the town's ethnographic, artistic and archaeological collections. This exceptional project was carried out in partnership with several heritage institutions (Institut national du patrimoine, Musée des civilisations européennes et méditerranéennes, Direction régionale des affaires culturelles...).
This new facility will be open to the public on September 22, providing an opportunity to discover this little-known heritage, rarely presented to the public.
