With the restoration of the bell tower recently completed, the building has been given a facelift to mark its centenary.
On this tour, discover how a daring, innovative architect and renowned artists - Maurice Denis, Antoine Bourdelle and Marguerite Huré - succeeded in building a monument in just thirteen months!
Your guide will explain how Auguste Perret combined his talents as an architect with the performance of reinforced concrete to design a large-scale religious edifice on a particularly tight budget.
He will also introduce you to Marguerite Huré's magnificent set of stained glass windows, which adorn the church's entire walls and flood it with color. Particular attention will be paid to the ten figurative stained glass windows designed by Maurice Denis, including the one commemorating the departure of the Marne cabs for the Battle of the Ourcq.
Volunteers from the association RESTAURER Notre-Dame du Raincy will share their passion with you on this guided tour.
Saint-Louis du Raincy church
Visitors can admire the church's side facade, whose architecture is typical of the château's park buildings, redesigned for the Duc d'Orléans by Thomas Blaikie, the famous Scottish gardener.
Inside, their attention will be particularly drawn to the monumental paintings in the choir and two remarkable statues: "the guardian angel offering a repentant sinner to God" and Saint-Louis de Gonzague, from the collections of the Musée du Luxembourg.
Hosted by volunteers from the Société Historique du Raincy et du Pays d'Aulnoye (SHRPA).
