Opening in September 2023 in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, the Maison Poincaré is dedicated to mathematics, its links with other scientific disciplines, and the influence it has on our society and everyday life. Children and adults alike can rediscover mathematics from a new angle, thanks to a tour and interactive modules. Physics, chemistry, but also philosophy, culture, arts... Mathematics is everywhere!
On September 21 and 22, 2024, the Maison Poincaré opens its doors to the public free of charge for an exceptional weekend. The Parisian museum is taking part in the 41st Journées du Patrimoine, offering special events over the two days.
Like every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) enchant us with their open doors, workshops, visits and exceptional discoveries, enabling us to appreciate the cultural and historical sites of Paris and theÎle-de-France region. A not-to-be-missed event, which can be experienced at the Maison Poincaré on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Exceptionally, the Maison Poincaré will be opening its doors free of charge, and will be offering mathematics and art workshops throughout the day.
(Please note: the Holo-Math experiment is not free of charge, and booking is recommended).

Join us for a talk on the Rulpidon, the geometric work by sculptor Ulysse Lacoste that adorns the museum's RESPIRER | Jardin Jacqueline Ferrand space. This emblematic sculpture of the Maison Poincaré joins the heritage collections of the Institut Henri Poincaré, rich in almost 600 mathematical models, which will also be discussed at this meeting. The Rulpidon is a geometric curiosity that has particularly intrigued mathematician Sylvie Benzoni-Gavage, as this simple, mobile form brings together art and mathematics.
In the presence of Ulysse Lacoste, sculptor, and Sylvie Benzoni-Gavage, mathematician and director of the IHP, this meeting will be followed by a signing of the book Le Rulpidon sous toutes ses coutures. Une aventure mathématique et artistique (Dunod, 2024) by its author.
