L'église de la Nativité
In a refined, poetic scenography, Laurie and Anaël use their voices and bodies to share Occitan, Sephardic and French songs, as well as poetic texts from the Middle Ages.
Sometimes mothers, sisters or friends, the two artists perform lullabies, stories and love songs that have been handed down from generation to generation of women. The "trobairitz" (troubadour women) texts evoke motherhood and love with humor.
Anaël and Laurie dance and sing, sometimes a cappella, sometimes accompanied by body percussion or a drone instrument, the shruti box. The languages of these songs come from around the Mediterranean: French, Occitan and Ladino, a Judeo-Spanish language.
