Heritage Days / Matrimoine 2023 at the Palais de la Femme in Paris

To mark the Journées du Patrimoine in Paris, the Palais de la Femme is exceptionally opening its doors to unveil a special Matrimoine program on the weekend of September 16 and 17, 2023.

Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) take place in September, offering you the chance to discover our treasures in a whole new light. In Paris and the Ile-de-France region, a wide range of events, often free of charge, promise visits, workshops and activities at iconic sites and lesser-known spots, over the course of an exceptional weekend. The next, 40th edition is scheduled for the weekend of September 16 and 17, 2023, and will feature a host of exciting events. Museums, monuments, castles, embassies, ministries, hospitals, fashion houses and much, much more: every year, numerous establishments lend themselves to the game, to the delight of the curious and the passionate alike.

Le Palais de la Femme is aSalvation Army establishmentdedicated to social aid and community involvement for over 90 years. Located in the capital's 11th arrondissement, the building's architecture blends Art Deco and Ceo-Classical styles, and was built in 1926 by architect Émile Thion to house women in difficulty. Its architecture, a blend of Art Deco and neo-classicism, is a living testimony to the era in which it was built.

Today, it is a place of refuge and reconstruction for women in precarious situations, offering shelter, attentive listening, and social assistance programs to help them regain their independence. The facility also includes a day-care center, a crèche, and various services to support women and families in need.

The missions of the Palais de la Femme are manifold: to combat social exclusion, promote gender equality, and offer concrete help to the most vulnerable.
