The Fondation Singer-Polignac exceptionally opens the doors of its private mansion to the public. The former home of Winnaretta Singer, Princesse de Polignac (1865-1943) - a great patron of the arts and sciences - the foundation she herself created has been based here since her death.
You can discover her music salon and state salons on the 1st floor, as well as the princess's former studio, where she painted and played the organ by day and organized her musical salons by night. Gabriel Fauré, Vincent d'Indy, Nadia Boulanger and Igor Stravinsky, as well as Marcel Proust, Jean Cocteau and Colette, regularly walked the halls of this hotel.
The guided tour will also enable you to discover some of the princess's rare surviving archives.
Today, the Hôtel de la Fondation welcomes artists from leading conservatories on a daily basis, enabling them to rehearse in a number of specially equipped rooms since the creation of a musical residence in 2006. You may well come across some of these musicians in a corridor.
Once a month, the foundation produces concerts reserved for professionals and patrons from the world of music and culture, to give the artists in residence a chance to make a name for themselves. Throughout the year, cultural and scientific days are also organized in collaboration with leading universities and research centers. All of these events are broadcast online and available by invitation only.
