In 2017, the Champs-ElyséesChristmas Market disappeared, despite appeals from Marcel Campion, who had created it in 2008. At the time, Paris City Hall had deemed that the entertainment and products sold wereof "mediocre quality" and had put an end to its installation on the world's most beautiful avenue, adorned with beautiful illuminations during the winter season. Since then, the market has never reappeared, and although another is held in the Tuileries, not so far away, Paris 8th arrondissement councillor Catherine Lécuyer would like to see it return.
In a press release, the latter states that it wishes to"reinstall a quality Christmas market on the lower avenue of the Champs-Élysées" and intends to defend this project on Tuesday, November 5, at the Conseil de l'arrondissement. She believes that the situation has changed since 2017, and that a Christmas market on the avenue would be"an exceptionalshowcase to promote the quality of the products and know-how of Parisian and Ile-de-France artisans".
She adds that the Comité Champs-Élysées itself had, in one of its proposals, advocated"recreating a quality Christmas market", and thus hopes to be supported in bringing back this market long considered a not-to-be-missed Christmas event in the capital.
