Paris City Hall announces the return of free residential parking this July 30, 2024. Airparif is forecasting an ozone pollution episode in the Ile-de-France region.

Beware, an episode of ozone pollution is expected this Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in Paris and its region. As is often the case on days with high levels of pollution, Paris City Hall is recommending that people leave their cars in the parking lot and instead use public transport, electric vehicles or even bicycles to get around the capital. And to motivate Parisians, the Mairie de Paris had announced that residential parking would be free on Friday, July 19, 2024.

In addition to this measure, the Préfecture de police is also modifying the traffic rules during this pollution episode in the Île-de-France region, and recommends " using telecommuting as much as possible, giving preference to public transport or active modes, as well as carpooling, and reducing the speed limit:

  • at 110 km/h on freeway sections normally limited to 130 km/h ;
  • 90 km/h on freeways and expressways normally limited to 110 km/h;
  • at 70 km/h on sections of freeways and expressways normally limited to 90 km/h, and on national and departmental roads limited to 80 km/h or 90 km/h."

So, wherever possible, use the least polluting vehicles and give preference to carpooling, public transport, walking and cycling.

These measures may be extended if the pollution episode does not end after Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
