As the saying goes, "In April, you don't lose a thread". And yet, this Saturday, April 6, temperatures are set to soar from 16 to 27 degrees in a single day! We're putting away our sweaters and coats for a day, which are still necessary despite the mildness of spring's arrival in France. The rainy days of the past few days aren't behind us yet, but we can opt for sunglasses for the weekend, with summer temperatures.
An abnormal heat spike, sometimes more than 10 degrees warmer than normal for the season, is due in part to sand particles from the Sahara arriving on the territory, causing cloudy skies despite the heat. But it's also due to thefoehn effect, a mechanism that occurs when an air mass is blocked by relief, causing warm air to rise. This hot spell won't last long, however, as the mercury drops again the very next day!
On Sunday, temperatures are forecast at around 19 degrees in the Paris region, with some precipitation, before plummeting on Tuesday - but in the end, these are only seasonal temperatures! In the meantime, the parks and gardens of the Île-de-France region are likely to be packed this Saturday, to take advantage of these unexpected rays of sunshine.
