Parks, gardens, rail transport: storm Ciaran is disrupting many sites and systems at the very beginning of November. In western France and along the coast, winds of over 200 km/h were recorded, with trees uprooted and homes without power... In Paris and the Île-de-France region, the damage is much more modest, but can still upset your plans.
This is particularly the case if you had planned to visit the Eiffel Tower on the morning of Thursday November 2, 2023. The Iron Lady has been forced to postpone its opening due to the storm.
On its website, the monument states: " The opening of the monument is delayed due to weather conditions. Please consult the website before travelling. Visitors already in possession of tickets: please check your mailbox. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
At 300 metres high, the Eiffel Tower offers a unique panoramic view of the capital. However, a visit to the top can be dangerous, especially when strong winds are blowing across the country. In fact, on the night of November 1 to 2, Météo France recorded wind gusts of over 140 km/h at the top of the Tower.
As a precautionary measure, the monument decided to remain closed for an indefinite period this morning. It is expected to reopen to the public when weather conditions improve.
