Facing the size of the coronavirus epidemic and given the vulnerability of people staying in medical-social centers, the Hauts-de-Seine department has decided to keep working hard for elderly people. A systematic screening test campaign on the department level will be launched this April 16.
Starting from this day, the Hauts-de-Seine department will mobilize the medical laboratory network scattered across the department to perform 25,000 molecular and validated tests (PCR). This campaign targets 10,000 residents and 6,800 nursing home caregivers, as well as 5,500 employees from the home help and support services.
This approach aims at securing on one hand their caregivers by medical-social professionals and on the other hand, they return back home.
“Protecting the most vulnerable elderly people and professionals taking care of them is vital, especially in this current health crisis period. These tests will enable to prevent the virus propagation within this already fragile population. More than ever, the Hauts-de-Seine department puts solidarity at the heart of its actions” temporary Hauts-de-Seine department president Georges Siffredi says.
