Starting May 11, Air France makes health checks tougher. As soon as confinement is lifted in France, the French airline, facing major money issues since the beginning of the Covid-19 crisis, will run body temperature checks on each and every passenger. If the temperature is above 38°C (or 100.4°F), boarding could be denied.
“Starting May 11, Air France will progressively implement temperature checks on departure from all its flights. The systematic checks will be carried out with contactless infrared thermometer” Air France wrote in a press release.
“Customers with temperatures above 38 degrees Celsius may be denied boarding and their reservation will be changed at no extra charge on a flight at a later date” the airline adds.
Another major topic: like in subways, RERs and trains, facemasks will be mandatory from Monday May 11.
For the record, Air France airline already set up measures to fight against Covid-19 such as mandatory facemask for the entire flight crew, as well as officers in contact with customers, as well as setting a path for customers on the floor, setting up social distancing on board, “every time it is possible”, and the reinforcement of daily plane cleaning processes.
By the way, Air France adds in the release that “the air in the cabin is renewed every three minutes”. Air France planes are equipped with filters identical to those used in operating theaters. They “extract more than 99.99 per cent of the smallest viruses, including those no larger than 0.01 micrometer”.
