EasyJet hacked, 9 million customers’ details exposed

This Wednesday May 19, EasyJet airline reveals to have been widely hacked. Email addresses and credit card details of about 9 million passengers have been exposed.

After the coronavirus crisis, another bad news for EasyJet. This Wednesday May 19, 2020 the British airline breaks to have been the target of a “highly sophisticatedcyber-attack it says in a release. All in all, about 9 million customers’ details have been hacked. While the airline is getting ready to phase out, this is another hard blow.

In concrete words, hackers accessed the credit card details of 2,208 passengers and to the email addresses and travel details of millions of others. So far, EasyJet has said in the released they already got in touch with the hack credit card owners before contacting all the others by May 26th at the latest.

By the way, the release also affirms that so far “there is no evidence that any personal information of any nature has been misused”, saying again that EasyJettake[s] the safety and security of [their information] very seriously”. While looking for solutions for their swindled customers, the group chief executive Johan Lundgren has apologized in the name of the company “to those customers who have been affected by this incident”. The company calls users to be “extra vigilant, particularly if they receive unsolicited communications
