Air France wants to protect passengers from Covid-19. While the international air sector is affected by the health and economic crisis caused by the coronavirus epidemic, Air France airline is about to give protective facemasks to passengers in order to prevent them from being contaminated by the virus. Under some conditions, of course.
This news may sound ridiculous given “the current low passenger rates” and the catastrophic context of the global air sector that has recorded at least a $100 billion-lost in March. An exceptional situation that doesn’t prevent the company held at 14.3% by the State, to set up measures to protect passengers. Even though these filling rates “don’t’ allow to set up social distancing”, Air France has said they will give via staff at the doors of the planes, masks. Only to “travelers who do not have one already” and in case social distancing is not possible.

At the same time, the airline’s press release reads “air in the craft is renewed every three minutes by a system fitted with filters identical to those used in operating theaters extracting the smallest viruses, Covid-19 included”. According to the company, being in a plane would be as secured as going into an operating theater. A bold promise but Air France wants to justify it to reassure passengers in these times of unprecedented health crisis. Without forgetting to send positive messages to potential customers…
