Gatherings over 10 people banned in Paris in case health instructions are not observed

Paris police prefecture has just banned gatherings and demonstrations over ten people that will not guarantee the respect of barrier gestures in Paris, starting from today, Saturday August 15.

As Paris has gone as “virus circulation’s active area” on August 14, as facemasks are now mandatory in several areas including the Champs-Elysées, the Louvre area and the Batignolles area, and as there are 17 active clusters in Paris, the Paris police prefecture has just made a new measure.

Therefore, gatherings and demonstrations over 10 people that will not guarantee barrier gestures will be observed will be banned in Paris starting today, Saturday August 15, the Paris police prefecture has stated last night.

All indicators show the virus is once again actively circulating in Paris: every day, about 600 people test positive for Covid-19 in the area including 260 in Paris” the prefecture says.

According to data provided by Sante Publique France, yesterday - Friday August 14 – in the Ile-de-France area: 7,627 deaths including 4 deaths in 24 hours were reported. There are currently 177 people in ICU and 2,557 people hospitalized.

According to data provided by the prefecture, the positivity rate now reaches 4.14% in Paris and 3.6% in Ile-de-France, against 2.4% on a domestic average. And the prefecture adds: “the incidence rate of the disease increases in Paris with over 51 new cases tested for 100,000 inhabitants, against 8 for 100,000 earlier this month, and 37 for 100,000 the week before.”

Last but not least, they say: “If the epidemiologic situation was to worsen again, facemasks might be mandatory in the entire capital”.
