Covid: “we're in a sort of third wave” of the epidemic, Castex warns

As Covid-19 variants keep on spreading at top speed in France, this Tuesday March 2, 2021, Prime Minister Jean Castex suggested the country was not close to exiting the crisis. BEfore making decisions "in the coming days", as confirmed by Emmanuel Macron, the head of government considers we are "in a sort of third wave" of the epidemic at this very moment.

"We're in a sort of third wave" of the epidemic. So has warned Jean Castex this Tuesday March 16, 2021. While the Covid-19 epidemic health situation is degrading by the day, the French Prime Minister intends the evolution of epidemic in departments placed in “strengthened surveillance” is going the wrong way, not as expected by the government and the health authorities to ease restrictions off. Involved? The "many variants" found everywhere in France.

For the time being, the “territorialized” aspect of the restrictions remains the government’s favorite tactics. The scenario of a tough 24/7 lockdown remains at the top of the list, at least on the scale of Île-de-France and the hardest-hit regions. Furthermore, this warning given by the PM to parliamentarians directly responds to recommendations made the night before by French President Emmanuel Macron. "We'll make new decisions in the coming days", the head of state said.

Earlier in March, Castex wished to share positive prospects with the French, as most of them are tired by the exceptional length of the health and economic crisis. “We will manage to get out of this in-between within a few weeks”, the PM hopes. “The horizon will brighten”, the head of government claims, reminding the vaccination campaign is to speed up in spring and the summer temperatures suggest things to get back to normal in a matter of weeks. Yet, before the country is able to get back on track, it has to resist the “difficult” coming weeks, then.
