It is official, the law about extending the health pass is to be instated from August 9, 2021. But how long will the health pass be mandatory? Int he decision handed this August 5 by the Constitutional Councill, the new law is to put an end to the pass on November 15, 2021.

The decision has been made: this August 5, the Constitutional Council has decided on the extension of the health pass. On Wednesday July 28, Gabriel Attal stated that the law will be then instated immediately after, on August 9. This new text enables to apply the health pass to access places of leisure and culture, restaurants, fairs, shows, trains, hospitals…

This measure is added to the one already existing, making health pass compulsory in movie theaters, museums, gyms, and theaters…

This pass becomes a skeleton key to access daily places of leisure. A measure severely denied and condemned by many politicians and citizens.

Presented as a tool to fight against Covid-19, this pass is not supposed to be infinite: the law examined by the Constitutional Council is to put an end to the health pass on November 15, 2021, at the latest.

When interviewed for the press this July 28, government spokesman Gabriel Attal shared his hope the pass can be stopped as soon as possible. “We will only use the health pass as long as it is necessary. As soon as we no longer need the health pass, we will no longer use it”, he promised.

A dramatic improvement in the health situation is to be expected to be able to freely enjoy all these places and entertainments.

Attal also wished to reassure the French: “at first, there will be a time to adapt, tolerate, a time of pedagogy and support for actors involved” in this new obligation. The government grants establishments now having to require health pass one week to adapt.
