With another day of strikes scheduled for March 23, a CGT unionist advises people to fill up on gasoline in preparation for the refineries' possible participation in the strike.

Most of the country's TotalEnergies refineries will be shut down on Monday. This is what CGT members across France have said. On BFMTV, Olivier Mateu, the secretary of the CGT departmental union of Bouches-du-Rhône, advised the French "to go and fill up with petrol, because there won't be much left". Threat or real possibility? The refineries are joining the strike movement against the pension reform.

It is therefore easy to fear new shortages, as was the case throughout the year 2023. And above all, we can fear rushes to the gas stations.

As a reminder, the next strike day against the pension reform will take place this Thursday, March 23. During the March 15 strike, the Ministry of the Interior estimated the number of demonstrators throughout France at 480,000, compared with 1.7 million according to the CGT.
