Work continues in the Paris metro. After lines 14, 11 and 13, it is now the turn of line 1 to undergo some maintenance work.
On its website, RATP announces the partial closure of line 1 during the Ascension Bridge, as part of the " renewal of a track unit at Gare de Lyon ". In detail, traffic on line 1 of the metro will therefore be interrupted between Châtelet and Nation stations, from Wednesday 17 May to Sunday 21 May 2023 inclusive. " Line service will be maintained normally between Châtelet and La Défense and between Nation and Château de Vincennes in both directions," RATP said.
During the entire duration of this partial interruption of traffic, several stations will be inaccessible. In total, 5 stations will be closed: Hôtel de Ville, Saint-Paul, Bastille, Gare de Lyon and Reuilly-Diderot. Also, on the west side of Paris, Châtelet will become the new temporary terminus from La Défense. On the east side, Nation will be the temporary terminus from Château de Vincennes.
During these 5 consecutive days of partial closure, RATP recommends that users take alternative routes, such as the RER A between La Défense and Nation stations.
Other possibilities to cross Paris from West to East and vice versa? Metro lines 5, 8, 11 and 14, which " will also allow you to join or leave from all connecting stations," explains RATP.
Finally, buses will also pass near some of these stations, such as lines 57, 72, 76 and 86. The company adds that bus lines 57 and 72 will be " reinforced for the occasion ".
You should also know that the other metro lines will remain accessible at the closed stations of line 1, namely lines 11 and 14 at Hôtel de Ville, lines 5, 8 and 11 at Bastille, line 8 at Reuilly-Diderot and RER lines A and D at Gare de Lyon.
Although service on line 1 will return to normal between La Défense and Château de Vincennes from Monday 22 May at 5.30am, RATP has specified that a " temporary speed limit (LTV) will be put in place from 22 to 24 May 2023 inclusive between Reuilly-Diderot and Gare de Lyon stations, which will slow down trains ".
