Suspected of having hidden miniature cameras in the women's toilets of the restaurant Eataly in the BHV Marais in Paris, the engineer working for the electronics group Thales was arrested this Tuesday, April 4, 2023. The alert had been given on February 8, 2022 by a woman surprised by the presence of detectors in the toilets and who had immediately alerted the store.

During the search of the company's premises in Rungis, the investigators seized recording equipment, as well as a large quantity of images, allowing them to count approximately 200 women and children as victims of this misdeed. The suspect was then placed in custody for"invasion of privacy by capturing images of a sexual nature," according to France Info.

The police are also trying to determine if this case can be linked to another act of voyeurism of the same type dating from August 2020, when a similar device had been discovered in the toilets of McDonald's in Paris Montparnasse. Thales, for its part, reacted by saying that the allegations were the result of an individual behavior of this employee, without any link to the company's activities. The company said it was cooperating with the investigation and was considering whether to file a complaint.
